Cat Tinker Swiss Cottage located at 411 Kent Street, Rockford, IL 61102Thank you for your interest in Tinker Swiss Cottage's first Mid-Victorian Fall Festival/Living History Event. We are looking for Living Historians who would be interested in demonstrating period crafts, skills or activities. We are planning on posting a schedule of demonstrations, so participants need not demonstrate all day and can also enjoy the festival. As of May 11th we have the following activities already scheduled:
As of this posting, we are only planning a single day. Reenactor set-up starts at 7:30 AM on Saturday and set up would continue until the Festival opens to the public at 10:00 AM. Tear down could begin after 4:00 PM. The event is outside, but there will be a large (modern) tent on the grounds. Please let us know if you want to set up your own canvas. Dress will be Mid-Victorian. Ladies are welcome to wear hoops, bustles, or work-dresses. Men can wear either period civilian or military uniforms. Amenities for the day include lunch and a free tour of the Tinker Cottage. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the completion of restoration on the lower level of the Cottage.
